Wisconsin’s rate of positive COVID-19 rates nearly doubled yesterday, when we set a one-day record of 738 new cases (the second-highest number of cases in a single day occurred on May 29, with 733 cases).

Unlike other states that are taking action to control the spread of COVID-19, our Governor's hands are tied by the Lame Duck laws enacted by our Republican-led Legislature. Then they went even further, using the Courts to end our Safer-at-Home order early. Their refusal to meet with the Governor to formulate a plan has left us with an inconsistent patchwork of rules in towns and counties, as local officials do their very best to slow the spread themselves.

The responsibility for every new case of the virus, and every new death due the virus, rests squarely in the hands of our elected Republican leadership. November 3 is fast approaching, and it’s time Wisconsin elects leaders who will put the health and safety of people first.
